About the Website
The website is a cooperation between Hitachi Medical Systems Europe and the Radiology Department of the Gelderse Vallei Hospital in Ede in the Netherlands.
It contains the teaching files from the ultrasound department of Gelderse Vallei Hospital. The cases were collected over a period of several years. When possible the cases were correlated with the clinical information, endoscopy results, surgical findings and pathological reports.
The site is intended for those who want an overview of the various ultrasonographic presentations of common pathology as seen in a general Dutch hospital.
The site is not intended to replace the many good reference books that exist on ultrasound.
An internet website has the advantage over a book that a lot of images and cineloops can be stored, while the space for illustrations in books is limited. After a few years the illustrations in books tend to become outdated, while the illustrations on a website can easily be renewed. Also not everyone involved in ultrasound has access to the latest books, while many of them have access to the internet.
