Male, 70 years old, Patient treated for a lung carcinoma

Transverse image of a mass in the right upper abdomen caudal to the liver. Part of the mass extends in the inferior vena cava.

Longitudinal image of the mass. The lesion is located between the liver and the upper pole of the right kidney.

Transverse image of the mass in the right upper abdomen caudal to the liver and next to the inferior vena cava.

Transverse image of the inferior vena cava. There is tumor in the adrenal vein extending in the inferior vena cava.

Conclusion

The mass is an adrenal metastasis of the lung carcinoma. Tumor extension through the renal vein in the vena cava of renal cell carcinomas is not uncommon, but adrenal tumors can also extend into the vena cava. Diagnosis Adrenal metastasis with tumor invasion of the inferior vena cava through the adrenal vein.
