Palpable painless masses in the right and left thyroid lobe
Because the mass in the right thyroid lobe was hypoechoic with an irregular contour, punctuate cacifications and irregular vascularity the lesion showed signs of a thyroid carcinoma. The mass in the left throid lobe on the other hand showed benign characteristics. Examination of the lymphe nodes in the neck showed no pathological nodes.
Biopsy proved the lesion in the right lobe to be a papillary carcinoma. The lesion in the left lobe proved to be a benign adenoma with cystic degeneration.
