The portion of processus vaginalis within the inguinal canal in women is called the Canal of Nuck. It usually gets obliterated.
If completely patent it is a potential pathway for an indirect hernia or hydrocele.
In this case the cystic formation can be explained as fluid trapped in between both ends of the inguinal canal creating a Canal of Nuck cyst.
