Patient is a 53 year old male who fell at home on an outstretch arm and had ongoing left elbow pain. The patient's wife was receiving PT from the therapist and wanted the clinician to evaluate her husband.
Upon MSK US of the Left elbow there was cortical irregularity of the head of the radius indicating a possible fracture. Tuning fork placement reproduced the patient's pain and the patient was referred back to the primary care physician for x rays. X rays confirmed the radius fracture and the patient was referred to orthopedics and successfully completed PT without surgery and had a full return to his prior level of function
.Point of care MSK US at the bedside can guide patient care. In this case a proximal radius fracture was seen on MSK US and then later confirmed on X Ray.
